I remember that when I was in a third semester, I have a class of Semantics. In this class I learn the diference between sentence, meaning and proposition. The sentence is a complete expression in a language, but also is a gramatically complete string of words expressing complete thought. On the other hand, the teacher teach me the utterance. The utterance is when you don`t use the verb for example "..shhhhh","wow" among other things.

Finally we can find the propositions, this is that part of the meaning of the utterance of a declarative sentence which describes some state of affairs.
